If you did not get to transfer your vote during the Mass Voter Registration campaign that closed mid this month, you can still do so anytime as long you do not wait until 90 days to the the general election. As a voter, you can transfer your vote from one polling station to another before 7th May, 2017 as the biometric voter registers are specific to each polling station. If you are looking to change your polling station, here is what you need to do:

      1.  Visit an IEBC office in your Constituency

After consulting with political parties representatives, IEBC announced that voters who wish to transfer from one polling station to another will be required to do so at the county level and not at ward level as it was done previously. To transfer your details from one polling to another, you therefore need to present yourself a a constituency-based IEBC office.

  1.  Present your Identification Documents

You need to bring your identification documents, either an identity card or a valid passport,  during your visit to IEBC constituency office. This documents provide proof of your nationality, helps in ensure you are not impersonating another person and is used to counter check your details in the Biometric Voter Register.

  1.  Fill Form D

You will be required to complete form D to facilitate transfer of your details from one polling station to another. This transfer form serves as a formal request to transfer to another polling station. It captures your details in terms of your identification card or passport number, name, the polling station you wish to transfer from and the new station you wish to transfer to.

  1. Allow an IEBC Officer to Facilitate Transfer

After completing the documentation process, an IEBC registration officer will use the details on your transfer form to transfer your details from your previous polling station to the new one. Once this is done, your details will no longer appear in the voter register of your old polling station. Rather, they will appear on the voter register in your new polling station and where you will be allowed to vote.

I agree with you Annie, it also saves some of us from the expenses of having to travel to where we had initially registered to vote.

I think it is the IEBC office where you had initially registered because that is where your details are currently held.

So the transfer is done electronically and I don’t have to take the Form D to the IEBC office in my new area?
